Social cognitive theory states that social factors and cognitive and behavioral, play an important role in learning. Cognitive factors include expectations of students to succeed, social factors also include observations of the behavior of students towards the achievement of their parents. Social cognitive theory is the most important reference of the application class (Choi, 2005; Petosa, et al, 2005)
Bandura's social cognitive theory
Albert Bandura is a primary architect of the social cognitive theory. He said that when students learning, they are cognitively able to represent or transform their experiences. Bandura developed a model of reciprocal determinism, which consists of three primary factors: behavior, environment, and person/cognitive.
These factors may interact to influence learning. Environmental factors influence behavior, the behavior affects the environment, people factors (cognitive) influence behavior and so on. These people factors are described Bandura do not have a tendency, especially cognitive personality traits and temperament.
"Individual Variations", that these factors include the nature of introvert or ekstrovet, active or inactive, calm or anxious, friendly or hostile. Cognitive factors include expectations, beliefs, attitudes, strategies, thinking and intelligence.
Bandura's model may be useful in the case of the behavior of the achievement of a high school student who we call Sondra:
• Cognitive influences behavior
• Behavior affect cognition
• Environment affects behavior
• Behavior influences environment
• Cognition affect the environment
• Environmental influences cognition
people factors / cognitive emphasized Bandura (1997, 2004, 2005, 2006) in recent years is a self-efficacy, the belief that someone can master the situation and create positive results. Bandura says that self-efficacy has a strong influence on behavior. For example, a student who has low self-efficacy is unlikely to try to study for exams because he did not believe it will bring good for him.
Social cognitive theory provides a concept that forms the framework used to evaluate the effects of determinants and mechanisms. Person's behavior is often described in terms causal relationships are formed and shaped by environmental influences and internal disposition.
According to Bandura, social cognitive explain psychological functions termed the reciprocal causation, so all the interaction we have, all biological activity, communication, social, cognitive, affective, behavioral patterns and what is influenced by values that are relationship reciprocity.
Social cognitive theory of Bandura created from the perspective in which he argues, humans are creatures who are organized, proactive, making imaging and its own regulations with the affected environment and the strength from within yourself. And therefore, the perception of us is influenced by socio-structural situation.
